8 Cities That Rank In the WUR Top 400 For Higher Education
Higher education is very important for students since this type of education becomes a bridge between their next educational level and professional career. Therefore, a list of best cities the world over that provide higher level education must be acquainted in order to choose the right place for our new generations to be well educated.
The first city on this list is Vienna. Everyone knows the Austrian capital city for the many famous composers who have resided there such as Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven. All these great composers have lived there in the past, but nowadays Vienna is also known for something else besides music.
More specifically, it is also famous for the good education opportunities in general, and higher education opportunities in particular. Vienna’s top 3 educational institutions rank in the World University Rankings (WUR) top 400, one of them being the University of Vienna, which ranks 170th at the time of writing this article.
The second city on our list is Philadelphia, which is located in the southwestern side of Pennsylvania. It is surprising that this (5th largest US) city, full of historic buildings, becomes the place of also 3 higher education institution that have made it into the top 400 World University rankings. The 16th position in this top is assigned to the University of Pennsylvania.
The third city that ranks in this top 400 for higher education is Istanbul. This transcontinental capital has been blessed with some institutions that achieve the World University Rankings for top 400 candidates. One of its universities – the Bogazici University – has made it into the top 200 position, which is a great achievement.
Another city that is well positioned is Milan. Milan is famous for its fashion. Yet, scientific research and design also become the focal point of influential sectors in this city that makes 3 of its universities listed in the World University Ranking show up in top 300. One of the examples is the University of Milan, Biocca, which was ranked in top 250 when last checked.
The 5th city to be listed for its great educational level is Beijing. Everybody has agreed that Beijing is an ancient city which is also the home of the famous Forbidden City, the world’s largest palace. But nowadays, Beijing is also home of 2 institutions that have been rewarded with ranking in the 50th and 45th spots of Times’ World University Rankings top 100.
Moving from Beijing, the next on the list is Stockholm. Aside from being known for sophisticated IT, rich culture, sustainability, and good welfare, Stockholm is also categorized as one of Europe’s leading centers for higher teaching due to its 3 educational institutions that have made it into the top 200 WUR, one of which is the Karolinska institute that’s ranked in top 50 as we speak.
The 7th city on our list is Chicago. This city is home to many different types and races of people the world over, making it a truly multicultural city indeed, and in which a plethora of diverse students to be properly educated. The University of Chicago occupies the 22nd spot for northwestern University as well as the top 200 University of Illinois.
The last, but definitely not the least on this short list is Barcelona. The Catalunyan city with its 8 universities occupies a well-deserved spot in our list with 3 of its universities being included in the top 250 of the latest update of WUR.
